I work with grades 9-12 at WBHS.
Over the years I have taught several different classes depending on the needs of my students.
Some classes that I have taught are: a Relationship class, math classes, and I just currently completed a year-long Work Study Class. Topics that were covered were: taxes, types of insurance, consumer credit, the stock market, personal budgets, The Rights and Responsibilities of Being 18, employability skills, job interviewing techniques, job shadowing experiences, career exploration, and a unit on dreaming big to name a few.
Overview of content/topic level of unit plan:
· Work Study Class: Grades 11-12. · Making It Big in the Stock Market. · The students will watch the stock market daily for a week. They will analyze the stock market activity during that time and each pick three top stocks. They will be given fictitious money to invest in their stock choices. They will follow their stocks and make quarterly decisions about whether to change their investment strategy or to continue with their original picks.
